· In Pennsylvania, if your children are 18 years old or younger, are uninsured, and meet certain eligibility requirements, they may be eligible for health insurance through the Pennsylvania Children’s Health Insurance Program (PaCHIP).

· To be eligible, your child must be a resident of the state for at least 30 days (except for newborns), cannot have any other health insurance coverage, including Medicaid, and must meet certain family income guidelines. Children living in families with incomes up to 300% of the federal poverty level are eligible for subsidized or free PaCHIP coverage, depending on their income. All children are eligible for PaCHIP, regardless of their family’s income, however additional eligibility requirements may apply to these families.

· Premiums for the children’s policy are based on family income. Significant premium assistance is available for lower income families.

· Benefits include well-child visits, diagnosis and treatment of illness or injury, prescription drugs, mental health benefits, and limited hospitalization.
