Can I Be Charged More Because of My Group’s Health Status?
- Depending on the number of workers you employ, there are limits on what you can be charged for health coverage. If you are a small group with 2 to 25 workers, as defined under Oregon law, you cannot be charged higher premiums because someone in your group is seriously ill. You can, however, be charged somewhat more due to the age, gender and family size of those in your group and where your business is located. This is called modified community rating. If you have more than 25 workers, your group health plan premium can vary because of health status.
