· Florida limits how much premiums can vary due to a small group’s health status. Even within these limits, premiums can be significantly higher if someone in your small group has a serious health condition. In addition, premiums can vary based on age, gender, family size and tobacco use of those in your group and where your business is located. However, insurers cannot charge higher premiums based on the genetic information of those in your group.

· Florida also limits how much small group plan premiums can increase at renewal because of claims experience. Even so, premiums may increase significantly if someone in your group had expensive claims.

· For groups with more than 50 employees, Florida does not limit premium variations when coverage is first issued or renewed, except that large groups also cannot be charged more based on genetic information.
