Screening for Life: Promoting Breast and Cervical Cancer Health

Screening for Life is a program providing free screening for breast and cervical cancer to eligible Delaware residents.  Eligible women diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer may be eligible for free health coverage through Medicaid while they need cancer treatment.

  • In order to be eligible for screening through the Screening for Life Program, you must meet age, income and insurance guidelines. You must have an income at or below 250% of the federal poverty level (FPL), be over the age of 18 years old and be uninsured or underinsured.
  • The Screening for Life Program provides qualified woman with full healthcare benefits through Medicaid at no cost or for a nominal co-payment. Women screened through this program and diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer may be eligible for free health coverage through Medicaid which extends throughout the duration of treatment. In addition, Medicaid will cover all of your medical needs including treatment of non-cancer related services.
  • Women who are screened elsewhere and diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer are not eligible to enroll in Medicaid. Therefore, if you are concerned you might have breast or cervical cancer, it is important to contact the Screening for Life Program, so that you can be referred to clinic or facility that is part of the program.
